The Certified Master Herbalist program is grounded in energetic theory and clinical application of herbalism. Designed for aspiring natural health practitioners and dedicated students of herbal medicine,* this program moves beyond symptom-based approaches to teach a holistic, individualized model of care rooted in traditional herbalism.
Students begin by studying the philosophical and historical foundations of herbal medicine before progressing into core principles of energetic herbalism, including tissue states, constitutional assessment, herbal energetics, organ affinities, and the development of a working materia medica. Emphasis is placed on pattern recognition and understanding the underlying imbalances rather than memorizing remedies for isolated symptoms.
The CMH program bridges traditional herbal wisdom with practical clinical reasoning, equipping students to use herbalism safely, confidently, and effectively within a natural health setting. Through structured coursework and case-based learning, students develop clinical reasoning skills essential for professional herbal practice. The curriculum also covers plant identification, ethical wildcrafting, herbal safety, formulation theory, and responsible herb selection, ensuring that graduates understand when, how, and why to use specific herbs.
By completion of the Certified Master Herbalist program, graduates possess an organized framework for client evaluation and personalized herbal protocol development that they can apply in private or group practices, retail settings, or wellness centers.
